Morri 2 Africa
In June, a good friend of mine is setting off in her 1958 Morris Minor (Charlie), to drive from Aberdeen in Scotland, all the way to South Africa – her journey is called Morri 2 Africa. She’s giving herself six months to allow for breakdowns and to get into adventures along the way. Make a donation here https://morri-2-africa.everydayhero.com/nz/iain
It’s an amazing expedition and she’s on target to raise NZ$30K for Cancer Research, but she is 100% self funded.
Her and her Dad shared the same love for the Morri Minor he passed onto her a few years ago, named Charlie after her Granda who had the same coloured Morris when her Dad was a child growing up in Scotland, hence the reason he bought it.
It was always her Dad’s dream to drive from his birth city of Aberdeen, through Europe, and Africa to Cape Town. Unfortunately he never got to do it as he passed away from melanoma in 2016. She couldn’t think of anything more significant than completing this journey in his name, in the car they both shared a love of.
I met Laura whilst working in travel over ten years ago. As with most people, I’ve had personal family experience with cancer and it’s about time we find a cure to this disease once and for all. I’ll be jumping inside the Morris Minor ‘Charlie’ in Cairo where I used to live, and finishing in Khartoum. The temperature will be close on 40 degrees and that is worthy of a donation for Cancer Research at least.
I’ll be blogging about the trip via my website The Kiwi Has Landed, so please tune in for all of the dirty details. I’ve been on many trips with Laura already, most recently one month in Cameroon, West Africa.
Please please please make a donation, no matter how small, to such a wonderful charity. https://morri-2-africa.everydayhero.com/nz/iain
